Marketing tags and ads

Wire up conversion tracking and bring in your Google Ads spend for review, without waiting on a live API connection.

Marketing tags and ads

Open a site from app.devghouse.com/websites, then Marketing in the sidebar for Google Ads. Google Tag has no sidebar link yet; see below for the direct address.

Google Tag

This page has no sidebar link yet. Open it directly at https://app.devghouse.com/websites/91/google-tag (use your own site's ID from its address bar). If you run Google Analytics, Google Ads or Google Tag Manager, paste your tag ID there (it starts with G- for Analytics, AW- for Ads, or GTM- for Tag Manager) and click Save.

Two checks below the field tell you whether the tag is actually going out. Served via website API turns green once you save an ID: this is the default for a site whose content is read over the website token, the way this whole guide's example site works. Repo attached only turns green once a GitHub repository is attached under Code (see Code and going live): that is a second, independent way to inject the tag for a site whose code lives in your own repo, and it is normal for one check to be on and the other off depending on how your site is built. Clear the field at any time to remove tracking.

Your assistant can read or set this too, with custom_website_get_google_tag and custom_website_set_google_tag.

Open Marketing > Google Ads. A live connection to Google's Ads API is not available yet, so campaign numbers arrive by importing the CSV export from the Google Ads dashboard: open your campaign, export it as a CSV, and paste the contents in. Re-importing the same campaign later refreshes its numbers instead of creating a duplicate, so this is safe to repeat as often as you check in on a campaign.

Once imported, you can review spend per campaign, drill into ad groups, ads and keywords, and correct the keyword themes on a Smart campaign directly from here.
